Spring Spree Fine Arts Exhibition!
This spring the Fine Arts Department at STM is having its Second Annual Fine Arts Exhibition to showcase the student's second and third works of art. The event will take place on campus on Spring Spree Day on Saturday, April 30, 2011 in the upstairs of the Administration Building. Over the year students in the art department have worked on projects ranging from the art historical to the culturally pertinent. All of these projects will be on display and friends, family and community members are welcome to attend! The art department at STM is dedicated to furthering the mission of STM itself by engaging the students in creative and productive behavior in the arts, which has been proven to enable the mind to focus on all academic studies. Through an accepting and therapeutic environment Fine Arts Teacher Andrew J. Rodgers challenges students to step outside of their comfort zone and deal with issues that relate to their own lives through discussion, critiques, art projects, and writing assignments.
"The quality and skill of the artwork created and displayed at STM is impressive, but what is more impressive is the inherent creativity of the students, and the often un-kindled desire in each student to create something in this world that is special, provocative and sublime: A vision of themselves." -Fine Arts Teacher, Andrew J. Rodgers of the students at STM.
