Graduation, '11
On Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., graduation was held at St. Thomas More School.
The commencement address was given by Mr. Charles E. Potter, Jr. Mr. Potter is a reporter at the Day newspaper in New London, covering the town of Groton. He is also a mentor, motivational speaker, keynote address speaker, master of ceremonies and the host of a monthly program at UCONN Avery Point called Hot Topics, Cool Conversations. Chuck is husband to Cheryl Potter, the father of four sons and a well-respected friend to St. Thomas More School.
The Salutatorian was Maitland Rames from Warwick, Ri and the Valedictorian was Yoon Seo (Harry) Ki from Seoul, Korea. The Marshall was Jin Seung Kim, '12 also from Seoul, Korea.
Christopher Burke of Lansdale, PA received the Senior English Award, Yeong Jin Shin of Busan, Korea was the recipient of the Senior History Award and the Senior Science Award and Guangchao Wang of Taiyunag, Shanxi, China was awarded the Senior Mathematics Award.
The Board of Director's Award was given to Li Wu Ying, of Taipei, Taiwan, and the Headmaster's Award went to Maitland Rames. Christopher Potter from North Providence, RI was given the Ryan Mullaly Memorial Award and Yen Ting Lu from Taipei, Taiwan received the Congressional Certificate of Merit. Paul Knudsen of Clinton, CT received the St. Ignatius Loyola Award.
