Art Show, '11-'12
10/27/11
The St. Thomas More Art Department under the guidance of Mr. Andrew Rodgers, Chairperson of The Fine Arts/Theology Department, held its first off campus art exhibition ever! The show was held at the TSETSE Gallery in New London, CT and focused on the strength and significance of a culturally diverse student body at STM. Student examined themselves through charcoal self portraits created with personally and culturally defining backgrounds. The exhibition ran from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. from Wednesday, October 12-22, 2011.
The concept of the show was spawned from a discussion on what it means to be truly accepting of people who are different from you. The idea that art can celebrate difference was discussed at the presentation through audio and video PowerPoint and then after the project through presentation. It was a great gallery opening and the show had a good run.
