The Mohegan Tribe Awards a Grant to STM

St. Thomas More School has been awarded a grant from the Mohegan Tribe to benefit Mr. Tom Bushnell’s history classes. This grant will be used to expand the Native American curriculum at STM, while specifically educating students about the history, government, culture, and tradition of Connecticut’s Native American tribes, with special attention to be paid to Chief Uncas, and his accomplishments as a tribal leader. Along with the grant, Mr. Bushnell’s history classes will be visited by representatives of the Mohegan Tribe, and have also been invited to visit the Mohegan Reservation in Uncasville to learn more about the Tribe and its history during this field trip. St. Thomas More School is vey proud of its affiliation with the Mohegan Tribe, and we look forward to learning more about this Native American indigenous people, and their rich and coveted history.
