Forensic Expert, Dr. Henry Lee, Visits STM
2/10/2009
Dr. Henry Lee, considered by many the "Michael Jordan" of forensic science, visited campus on February 9, 2009 as part of STM's Distinguished Speakers Series, coordinated by Tim Viands, Dean of Students. Summer School Faculty member and State Representative Kevin Ryan also helped Mr. Viands with the arrangements. For more information please click on The Montville Times.
Dr. Lee serves as Chief Emeritus of the Connecticut State Police and Director and Professor of the Forensic Science Laboratory at the University of New Haven. His easy manner and self-deprecating sense of humor certainly kept the students alert and interested. Dr. Lee's frequent questions to the students and the way they competed to answer them made it even more exciting.
Dr. Lee, a native of Taiwan, shared some of his life experiences with our young men. He not only discussed some of his investigative work, but also shared "secrets of success" with the Chancellors, noting "the quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their choice of fields of endeavor." Through hard work, Dr. Lee told the students, "anything is possible."
It was a great privilege for STM to have Dr. Lee on campus and everyone knew it. His presence made our students proud and the way he involved the boys in the assembly made them very happy and very honored. Thank you very much Dr. Lee for a truly amazing assembly!
