Welcome Alumni...
Dear Alumni,
First I'd appreciate a moment of your time so that I may introduce myself to the St. Thomas More community. My name is Brendan Caffrey. I am originally from Branford, CT. I attended Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT and graduated in 2001. After taking a few years to find myself, I was afforded the incredible opportunity to attend St. Thomas More School.
During my time at St. Thomas More, I cultivated friendships that have lasted to this day. I was a Tri-Captain for the Chancellor Football team under previous Head Coach Tim Riordan, '79. I then went on to play Division 1 football for Lehigh University. I was a part of two Patriot League titles and, in 2004, played in the Division 1 FCS Playoffs.
After my four years of eligibility came to an end, I went to work for the National University of Ireland @ Galway, Ireland in the summer of 2008. Upon returning stateside, I graduated in January of 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and a Minor in Religion. I was an assistant coach with the St. Thomas More football team this fall and have taken the position of Alumni/Public Relations Coordinator effective February 1, 2010. I am truly excited for the opportunity to serve the institution that has given me so much.
This is a great time for St. Thomas More School as a whole. A good number of fresh, new faces have been added to the faculty roster, thus combining the tenured teachers' extensive knowledge and experience with bright, young enthusiasm across all departments. With that being said, St. Thomas More and staff are putting on some wonderful events this coming spring.
10th Annual Career Day - March 18th, 2010 - We have over 40 individuals coming to speak in our classrooms - This is our highest turnout to date - If you are not already involved and would like to be, please contact Sheryl Schnaidt at sschnaidt@stmct.org.
Our Annual Spring Spree - May 1st, 2010 - We will be hosting a Silent Auction on this date - The Alumni Lacrosse Game will be held this afternoon as well. --If anyone would like to assist in locating items for donation to be auctioned off in the Silent Auction, please contact Brendan Caffrey, '04 at bcaffrey@stmct.org. Anyone interested in competing in the Alumni Lacrosse Game, please contact Jon Hastings at jhastings@stmct.org.
A Boston Regional Alumni Gathering is also in the works. Tentative date is April 14th, 2010. Anyone who would like to attend, no matter where you currently reside, please contact Brendan Caffrey, '04 at bcaffrey@stmct.org.
In closing, I am really looking to reach out to all Alumni of St. Thomas More School. We have so much happening on campus these days; it is truly not the same school as when you left and it is ever-changing for the better. Please contact me if for nothing else than to fill me in on your experiences since leaving STM. Our alumni are what keeps this school going and we would love your continued support.
